Today we’d like to introduce you to Nancy Pitrelli.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I would say I fell into the wedding industry by accident and quite naturally at the same time. Everything started after organizing, decorating, cooking, designing and even sewing the gown for my own wedding, all that while having a full-time job. It was stressful and exhausting but I treasured every moment of it!
Now, after each event, I prove myself that I have the sensitivity and all the craziness necessary for this work! I’ve been creative and autodidact since childhood, I adapt easily to new challenges, I’m a problem solver, fast paced, organized, and a little “too” perfectionist when it comes to details and making sure everything is right. I work much better under pressure, all the stress of running against the clock gives me the fuel to keep going.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. I am not that young and I have decided to make a career switch!
Doing my own wedding didn’t make me a wedding stylist or planner overnight. I had to learn on the hard way. I quit my full-time job to work for pennies on Floreciendo Garden Estates, a venue that is no longer in business. I did it because I had a huge admiration for its owner’s sense of style and creativity and I was honored to work under his shadow. I have done events for little or no money just to get experience, and I have also invested, and still are, many hours on styling and floral design classes.
I have followed my inner voice since I started this adventure. My biggest challenge right now is to find the time to materialize all the ideas and projects I have for my own business.
Please tell us about All That Glam.
All That Glam is an event planning and design company based in Dallas, TX providing services beyond the DFW area with Destination Weddings in the Caribbean and Mexico!
Most of our clients want their Big Day to truly reflect who they are in a simple but elegant way. We do just a handful of events a year which give us the opportunity to give each couple the uniqueness they have dreamed for their wedding.
To see our work come alive on the day of the event is really fulfilling. The anticipation and excitement of couples seeing their wedding dream materialized, is worth the physical and mental exhaustion.
The proudest moment so far?… getting The Knot “Best Weddings” award after a year in business.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Making “gifts” from useless things to surprise my parents.
