Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Bunch.
Christopher, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is a complicated one with my start and how I got to be where I am today. When I was 20, I was arrested on several robbery charges and was shipped away for five years. Once I got out, I was brought into the stone business from a family friend as a yard hand at a wholesale distributor 9 months later. Through hard work and persistence, I worked my way up through that company and was able to put myself in a position to buy a stone fabrication company in 2015. After a year and half of struggle, I was forced to give up the company and had to start all over in the business again. Jose Rodriguez at Natural Stone Designs found me and gave me an offer to work at his exclusive luxury stone fabrication company. Given the tools Jose provided, I was able to land big contracts like doing stonework in the new Texas Rangers Stadium and consistently creating beautiful living spaces for our clients.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road for me as coming out of prison was not an easy transition. I was told no 100 times about getting a job because of my past; however it took the one yes to give me an opportunity to succeed and I have been trying to make the most of it.
Please tell us about Natural Stone Designs.
Our company Natural Stone Designs, has some of the best craftsmen in the DFW so we are able to do the most unique installs in the area. What I am most proud of our company is the culture that Jose has developed from within. We don’t have a 100 employees and so everybody has the values and work ethic to make sure our customers are not just satisfied with our installation but beyond happy with the end our result. Our specialty is high-end luxury remodeling and commercial work such as hotels and stadiums. If you want an over the top experience and space in your house and with a budget, we are here to help.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is the comradery I built with my teammates playing competitive and High School soccer. We learned to push each other every day to stay driven towards a common goal and those memories of hard work still keep me going today.
