Today we’d like to introduce you to Oletha Johnson.
Oletha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas. I grew up on the east side part of Fort Worth. I grew up in a family-oriented home, where we loved spending time with each other. After graduating high school, I knew I wanted to work in the medical field because I had a passion for helping people. With hard work and dedication, I pursued and earned my Medical Assistant license, Certified Nurse Aide license, and Medication Administration license. I worked in the hospice unit in nursing homes and hospitals. Working with many patients, I seen there was a need to be met that was beyond the services being offered to the patients.
In 2015, I started a business in the beauty industry, the business was not planned and I did not have the passion of selling hair like I did when I was caring for people in the hospitals and nursing homes. A couple of years later, in 2017 I prayed for a new business venture. I executed a business plan to open up my own group home. At the same time, I was saving money to purchase a home for my two boys and I, so I prayed and asked God for guidance. I took a tremendous step, all the money I invested I put into my business venture. I did not know where to start or who I needed to talked. I had no connections, I just knew this is the business I needed to start. I shared my inspirations and goals with my mother Barbara Johnson, grandmother Ola Dobbin, and Tommy Howard, they were all on board ready to lend a helping hand. They assisted me in every way possible to get my business off from the ground. Beyond Measures, LLC. has become a family owned business. Today, I have two group homes and in the process of opening an Adult Learning Center, that will offer daily activities for adults.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have come to terms that entrepreneurship comes with many rewards but also many challenges. I have learned depending on my own strengths, personality, and business background made some of the obstacles and challenges easier to overcome than others. In the beginning, the challenges I endured was on the funding side, funds were scarce. All funding went toward to make sure the facility stayed opened and ran smoothly. Staffing was also an obstacle, making sure my staff was fully equipped to run the home during day and night hours.
Please tell us about Beyond Measures, LLC.
Beyond Measures is an independent living facility for people who do not need non-medical services. We allow residents to maintain their independence as long as possible without compromising their safety. Our goal for all clients is to get them back to completing the activities of daily living without assistance. Our vision is to be the provider of choice for quality home health care services, recognized for dedication, providing innovation, and compassionate care to the community we serve.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood was the struggles I endure growing up. It motivates me to continue to seek my goals and have higher expectations.
