Today we’d like to introduce you to Pastor Phea Kennedy.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
The Lord called me to preach on April 25, 2004. Preaching is a proclamation of God’s Holy Word. It can also be regarded as art from the lense of storytelling. I have always loved the arts- Music, dance, theatre, poetry, and all things creative.
In 2011, Life Through Art (LTA) was birth. LTA is a family friendly open mic where anyone is welcome to speak life through various art forms. I say speak life because we have such power to marry our gifts and talents to encourage, inspire, empower someone.
Serving others through our gifts is ministry. The same year, 2011, Erinn Davenport offered me the opportunity to have an online radio show on KEBNradio. It was only efficient and divine that Life Through Art would be in an audio format for the world to hear. A series of God moments transpired where Ms. Davenport eventually sold the radio station to me.
KEBN name was comprised of the initials of the original owners. When I took over the station in 2011, I changed the acronym to stand for Kingdom Expansion Broadcast Network. Ministers are charged with advancing the Kingdom of God. What better way than the power of music and talk radio as the vehicle to do so.
As a Stellar Award nominated station, I’m grateful for supporters, listeners, our talented show hosts, several mentors, trial and errors and more importantly my husband for always being my biggest cheerleader.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! I love music and the power of music, but I don’t have a radio/media industry background. I had to rely on The Holy Spirit, mentors, YouTube, books, and learning from kind people in radio broadcasting such as Carmina Barnett, Frankie Wilson, Kevin James, and many others.

Our mission is to empower, inspire and encourage through music and talk radio. As the owner/CEO, I’m proud that our programming and show host consistently represent our mission. I’m humbled that the Lord has sustained us for seven years.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Yes. Dallas is a thriving, diverse city for any entrepreneur. They must find their niche and target audience, remain consistent, and they will do well.
