Today we’d like to introduce you to Pooja Mehta.

Pooja, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
“Being Myself is what got me to where I am.”

So, let’s begin with my journey from Delhi -India to Dallas – USA.

I always did something that I was a little not ready to do, as I think that is how you grow, and I will grow through the people I meet & then I met my Beloved Hubby Rohit and moved to this country or land of opportunities after marriage in the year 2008. After taking my first year off, I wanted to continue or further on my Interior designer career but quickly realized that for the same to happen here, will require another 3-year course/degree for which I was not mentally and physically ready. That was the inflexion point, which led me to pursue a career in the glam world leveraging my creative imagination and attention to detail philosophy. I did a 3-month course/training with India’s top certified Makeup Artist & cosmetologist – Meenakshi Dutt New Delhi- India, and launched my career in New Jersey in 2011.

Initial few years were tough as I was not connected in the market space and obviously didn’t have a portfolio of references to showcase to my prospective clients. So, to get connected I gave some free trials, worked backstage for a lot of fashion shows in New York, which gave me an opportunity to work with some senior makeup artists, where I learned a lot of details of this profession and build a name and reputation for myself in the competitive market of Central Jersey.

Second inflexion point came when we as a family decided to move to Frisco -TX region in the year 2014. Here I applied the learnings of NJ experience and with a fresh approach to makeup industry I got myself established as a specialized Makeup artist & Hairstylist for the Bollywood Celebrities who come to Dallas for their events, and all my gorgeous Brides & Clients. I have slowly built my company marketing through references, word of mouth, event participation and active social media participation. As an Artist I value’s the importance of family, tradition and positive relationships. It motivates me to learn, grow, expand, improve myself and develop my own hidden talents.

And now, with over 5+ Years of Experience, I am one of the fastest growing MUAH in Dallas and in a short period of time apart from the Bollywood & Tollywood celebrities my work has also been featured in the newest commercial on NBC for The Angels Foundation along with being introduced as one of the Makeup Artist on B4u for Fashion Pakistan in NYC. I honestly never knew that my Art would make me meet such beautiful personalities and celebrities. I truly enjoy my profession as a MUAH. I love dolling up my gorgeous Brides & simply love to take pictures with them, as for me they are not less than celebrities.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
As we all know, nothing comes easy in today’s world, and I also felt that I was starting over & over again, as whenever one pursues a new career line, it comes with its share of UPS and Downs and my journey has been no different. I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious. a slow walker, and try to be on the right path.

And with God’s Grace, I am blessed to have so many great things in my life – my family specially my Hubby – Rohit & daughter Shania, my Mom, and my God. I am satisfied on a small niche I have created for myself in this profession. I am very comfortable with who I am, and very grateful and happy to be able to share this with everyone:)

I’m a Professional & Certified Makeup Artist and Hairstylist for over 5+ years now. My company Makeup and Hair by Pooja – LLC is a Frisco TX based company specializing in Weddings, Special Occasions, Fashion & Editorials. My home-based studio is conveniently located in Frisco- TX and I do provide onsite services at your location for ease & convenience as well.

I understand that each make up need and ask is different and that is where my Versatility brings me apart from other Artist’s in the industry. I am very well-versed with the Varied Tastes and Cultures of Brides from different religions & have done many brides from American, Indian, South Indian, Philippines, Indonesian, Nepali, as well as Pakistani Brides. I am well versed and trained with both Airbrush and Traditional Makeup applications. So irrespective of the event being Bridal, Fashion, Glamor, Editorials and Special Occasions, I transition my experience and expertise to bring out the best look in you.

I am known for doing Simple makeup applications, specially for people who think Less is More, they love my services a lot. I bring in a lot of passion in my work which is fueled by my desire to help a woman’s inner beauty shine on the outside.

Enhanced beauty is my ultimate goal in makeup application. ONE should look and feel like themselves! Throughout my career, I have been rewarded by the confidence a woman exudes after her makeover. My eyes light up still today when I transform someone and they thank me for making them look beautiful.

I believe that the best color is the one that looks good on you! My Makeup and Hair Styles range from Traditional, Contemporary, Hi-Fashion Look to Simple and elegance. I have a great sense of fashion & get a lot of Inspiration and Ideas from the Global Cultural Diversity around us.

What were you like growing up?
A very fancy person I can say, a typical scorpion, follower of Baba, a very God-fearing person. Love to be in limelight. I loved to dress up like a little diva since childhood, standing in front of the mirror and using my Mom’s stuff. My interests were in Fantasy more than reading school books. I love to Sing, my second passion of my life, I am gifted with a very sweet voice indeed. Personality wise, I am very patient, sweet, & professional when it comes to work. Born and raised in the heart of India – New Delhi, and Hyderabad, I have always been fascinated with makeup, fashion, art, designing, decorating, music and culture.

All that I am or hope to be, I owe to my Dad & Mom.
