Meet Rachel Ramirez of New Level Nutrition in Farmers Branch

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Ramirez.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Everything started in my childhood. I definitely did not have it bad, I was clothed and fed and taken care of. However, the emotional support and stabilization of a “normal” childhood was not there. I grew up around drugs, alcohol, verbal and physical abuse, and a very emotionally unstable environment. With all of this also came a very poor mindset. We had a “we dont have enough” mindset and were taught that “this is just the way it is”.

From all the things I saw and witnessed growing up, I knew that no matter what and no matter how hard, I was going to do everything in my power to be successful, become independent, set my life up so that I could depend on myself, and I would never live a life that my parents lived. My adult examples as a child were broken, and very disempowered. I witnessed women who settled for less and put up with things simply because without their significant other, they would have nothing.  And it’s the main reason why I work so hard. I never want to be at the mercy of anyone. I wanted to be an independent woman and hold my own. And I want others, both men and women, to see that no matter where you came from, what you saw and went through, what you were taught and what you had as examples growing up…you have the power to completely change everything for your life and your future.

You are not a victim of your circumstances, your past is not meant to hold you back and you cannot use your past as your reason for not being more and having more in life. You have the power to overcome, and you can use your past experiences to empower you and light a fire in you to be more. Fast forward, I am now a Registered Nurse and own a successful nutrition club in the Dallas area. Seeing where I am now, I’m still in shock. Never did I think I’d ever be a business owner. I help people to lose weight and achieve other fitness goals and also help empower people and give them the positive reinforcement to see that they too can become more and achieve all the things they want. I want to show people that I am not lucky, I was not given all that I have. I had to work really hard for everything, Anything is possible with hard work, hustle, and belief. I am now very grateful to use my Instagram as a platform to reach a larger audience and help inspire people to change their life, regardless of the situation they may currently be in.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. I had my own battles with drugs and alcohol. I even had a few things happen in Austin which turned into the biggest wake up calls and blessings in my life. It was my turning point to stop drinking and begin living a healthier lifestyle. I also had to learn that I had to break off and separate myself from my people in my past, no matter how close we were or may have been. Sometimes we have to separate in order to elevate. Other challenges were financial. I worked full-time al throughout school to pay for my college funds and for my rent. All of which I am grateful for. Looking back, I am grateful that I had to work so hard and pay for my college and bills myself because it made me stronger. And it has made me more grateful for all that I do have. There were many emotional and mindset struggles as well. I was still battling a lot of toxic issues and insecurities I had developed because of the environment I was raised in. It has taken a lot of personal development and surrounding myself with successful and positive people in order for my mindset to change. Much of it has taken place over the past four years of truly diving in and working on myself.

New Level Nutrition – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a full time registered nurse, and my business started as a side hustle to make extra money. It started four years ago when I was looking for a positive group of people to be around. I found a Herbalife nutrition club and started going there. I absolutely loved the energy and the people. Everyone was so positive and uplifting, and they were all focused on growth and becoming better versions of themselves. Its something I became very intrigued by. I got on a nutrition program and got results that I had never been able to achieve before. I then became a part of the team because I wanted to help other people feel as good as I did. And not just physically, but I wanted to bring people around the energy and positivity. Throughout the years, I worked out of other peoples nutrition clubs and one day decided that I wanted to open my own. I had a dream and a vision to have a nutrition club that was a community center for uplifting, positive energy and support. I wanted to give people a place to come to where they could see their potential and be uplifted and feel empowered, just like I had at my first nutrition club. And it has become just what I had dreamed of.

People come here everyday and they hang out and drink healthy smoothies and energy teas, they feel like it is their home. All of our regulars now know each other and it’s like a big family. When new people do come in, we make it a priority to introduce them to everyone in the club because it makes them feel good, and soon they become a new part of the New Level family also. And of course, we have helped many people with their health and fitness goals. We have a wall of results from our clients that we have met since opening the doors. It feels good. I love marketing for my business because the new people that do come, many turn into friends and family. There are so many relationships I otherwise would not have if it weren’t for the club. And I’m sure I can say the same for many of our clients. And to answer that question, that is what makes us different and sets us apart. I don’t know of any other smoothie or coffee shop where you can go in and get the kind of treatment that we give our people. We offer a completely different vibe and energy, and we truly care about every person that comes in here. We don’t just want to sell you a smoothie and energy drink and send you off, we really want to get to know you as a person. And it really reflects. We have seen so many of our clients come out of their shell, and now when new people come in, our clients naturally make an effort to introduce themselves and make them feel a part of the New Level family. It’s amazing to witness!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
There are so many! I think it’s very emotional to look back at where I came from and think to myself “wow…you really did it. You made it. You did everything you said you would”. I get so emotional just typing that. I think we sometimes come so far in our journey, that we sometimes disconnect and forget where it all started. And we lose that feeling we once had when the journey all began. Even going back and typing answers to this questionnaire, certain feelings arise that I haven’t felt in a while. And a lot of those feelings are just that, the feelings I had when the journey first started. The feelings of that little fire being lit inside.

Another proud moment honestly is seeing the people that I have been lucky enough to meet and help. Seeing the messages, I get from my clients and team members, of how happy they are now and how good they feel. How much confidence they’ve gained, how they’ve overcome barriers they once had, how they can fit into certain clothes now. Those messages and seeing those little yet big successes is what lights me up and makes me want to work even harder to find and help more people.
