Meet Raven Crisp of Selfless Hands Foundation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raven Crisp.

Throughout Raven Crisp’s life, she was taught the value of giving back to her community and performing selfless acts of service. As a child, she was involved in Jack and Jill of America and involved in leadership roles. In high school, she accomplished her goal of being in National Honors Society, completing over 200 hours of community service. After the passing of a close friend, Alexus Dockins, Raven coped through serving the homeless population and the victims of domestic violence through donation drives. In 2016, Raven Crisp hosted her first disaster relief project to support the local communities of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her work continued in 2017 when she hosted the second disaster relief project to support the communities in Houston, affected by Hurricane Harvey. Both projects were supported and funded by the communities in Oklahoma City, Stillwater, Tulsa, and Oklahoma State University. When she graduated from Oklahoma State University, she received a cord representing her accomplishment of performing over 400 hours of community service within her three-year college career. Selfless Hands Foundation was founded in 2018 with the vision to provide resources, items, and support to those who are in immediate need locally and nationally. Over the years, she developed a passion for helping community members affected by an emergency crisis or a disaster, which led to her second disaster relief project for the communities affected by Hurricane Harvey in Houston. Today, Selfless Hands Foundation strives to make a continuous impact on the local communities by providing the necessary resources, aid, and relief to community members in need.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The journey of Selfless Hands Foundation has not always been a smooth road. The bumps in the road were more personal than the nonprofit. The toughest part of the journey was seeking people who were willing to share information and resources, which resulted in having to figure everything out by myself. It took a few months after incorporating the organization to have an established board of directors. The journey was led by faith, as I am a spiritual person. I never made any decisions until I felt confident that it was the right timing.

Selfless Hands Foundation – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?

The mission is to strengthen community ties, promote community activism and assist those in need on a local and national level through various services, programs, partnerships, and disaster relief. The goal is to provide the necessary services for our community members in need to overcome their circumstances to provide a better life for themselves and their families. Selfless Hands Foundation was incorporated in the state of Oklahoma on February 16, 2018. The board consist of the Chief Executive Officer and President, Raven Crisp; Vice President, Mary P. Smith; Secretary, Courtney P. Jordan-Brown; Financial Director, Leah Tomlin; Marketing and Communications Director, Nicole Wright; and Community Relations Chair, Kourtney Mason. Selfless Hands Foundation specializes in providing resources, aid, and relief for those affected by an emergency crisis and/or a disaster. We are known for hosting donation drives locally and nationally and providing disaster relief. I am most proud of Selfless Hands Foundation for its involvement in the communities and the hard work its board members have invested into the organization. I believe that the focus of building an emergency and disaster relief center to provide aid and relief in creative, hands-on ways is what can set us apart from a lot of nonprofit organizations.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success by reaching a place of inner peace and happiness. My criteria of success is doing things that are ethical, moral and conducive to growth and development. Anything that you decide to do should not bring harm to anyone else. I often remind myself that my purpose is bigger than myself and the goal is to inspire as many people as possible.
