Meet Rhianna Mack

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhianna Mack.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
My name is Rhianna and I created True Artist Brand for passionately, creative people like us!
I’ve always been fixed on design/aesthetics, fashion, performing arts, music & entertainment in general. So, I wanted the brand to reflect something that we all could relate to and be proud to be associated with.

As a Visual Artist- I realized I had a knack for arts & entertainment when I was really young. My mom let me buy some how-to-draw books from the school book fair and I’d practice drawing the characters from the book., I started winning art contests and sold original works that I’d draw with oil pastels to my friends. In high school, I began learning about commercial art.

Fast forward- I moved to Dallas, TX (since my mom wouldn’t let me move to Philly to attend the University of the Arts. Sadness. But) I found a home at The Art Institute of Dallas and majored in Computer Animation. From there, I picked up additional skills in graphic design, typography & video editing.

As a Performing Artist- After art school, I went to study acting & performance at KD College. (My CAM instructors from AID thought I was really going that extra mile to develop my animated characters. Fooled em, lol!) I’d started getting cast for shows very early on in my attendance at the school, then got signed with The Mary Collins Agency. Fortunately, I was able to book lots of commercials, industrials, voiceover, print work and plenty of theater! Maybe you saw me in that movie about Fantasia Barrino on Lifetime?

Like a lot of artists out there, I tend to be multi-passionate when it comes to creativity.
This has since led to me creating Upper Underground which is an *exclusive* space for other creatives looking to host dope experiences.
Some of my other skills include: dancing, writing lyrics, getting distracted, cellphone photography, and thinking about a ton of ideas I can’t wait to accomplish!
I love quality, collecting dope friends, and inspiring individuals!

Please tell us about your art.
Currently: By day, I assist in designing graphics for top recognizable brands. On the occasional weekend or evening, I manage Upper Underground which helps other dope creatives host exclusive experiences. Why? Because artists keep the world worth living through inspirational contributions & thought-provoking insight. So, if I can be a catalyst for, or assist in other’s creative growth in some way, this is when I feel the most purposeful.

As an artist, how do you define success and what quality or characteristic do you feel is essential to success as an artist?
I define success by getting to a point where you impress yourself in knowing you are not where you started. It can be quite challenging for us, individually, to not compare ourselves to societal standards. Getting beyond the surface of that elusive narrative to the depths of one’s truest capabilities is what champions are made of. ‘Kaizen’ is a Japanese word I’ve been focused on more recently. It is a Japanese business philosophy of continuous improvement of working practices, personal efficiency, etc. And as always, quality + consistency is the master key.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My design work is not available online. However, for any creatives that would like to meet to discuss a creative experience they would like to produce, please Schedule a Consultation at upperunderground.com. I’d love to meet up!
