Today we’d like to introduce you to Rikki Renee and Amanda D.
Rikki and Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Supreme Sleepovers started at the gym, on treadmills. We (the two owners) were working out together. Amanda: “my girls want a sleepover for their birthday this year.” Rikki: “you should turn your living room into a make-believe campsite.” That party happened, one parent posted a picture. The Facebook repost and messages came flooding in. We both have a passion for parties and this wasn’t our first one but it was our first sleepover. Know we look for inspiration all around and enjoy coming up with new themes, looks and adding to our portfolio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road has been smooth but with curves and detours. We had a business before we had a business plan. So, for a while, the learning was coming after the growth. In order to become more profitable, successful and efficient we had to get ahead of that curve. Potential customers were so excited and impressed they were giving us money literally before we mastered our financial strategies. We threw “supreme sleepovers” before we were Supreme Sleepovers. So, the parties, execution wise, were always a success. The business side of things didn’t come so easy. We had to learn quickly how to manage time, finances, inventory, customer service, taxes, and scheduling, etc.
Supreme Sleepovers – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Supreme Sleepovers is Tents, Teepees, Canopies or other super cool options + decor. We create for kids, adults, indoor, outdoor, birthdays, graduations, sports teams, bachelorette parties or any celebration. We mostly book overnight, or foe a few hours , what we call – “Almost Sleepovers.” We are the only Sleepover company in the DFW metroplex. The entire concept was new to us when we started without any inspiration or knowledge of any similar companies. So far we are most proud of our customer satisfaction! Never one complaint. Parents are overly pleased every single time. And the looks on the kid’s faces is always the icing on the cake.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Supreme Sleepovers measures success by customer satisfaction, self-fulfillment (freedom and creativity over our work) reputation and profit. In that specific order! Any time we have the opportunity to expand Supreme Sleepovers, that’s a huge marker for us. The ability to grow proves that we are doing something right. We reach for a certain about of recommendations (word of mouth) and a certain amount of bookings each month. Those are two great ways to judge if we are in the path to success!
