Meet Sara Wolfe and Steve Severance of Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Electrolysis in Uptown

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Wolfe and Steve Severance.

Several years ago Sara was an elementary school teacher and had desired to do some permanent hair removal. She found a great electrolysis at a company called Great Skin by Lynne. She would set aside some extra dollars each month to have Lynne work her magic by removing hair from a variety of areas on her body. During one of her sessions Sara and Lynne began to talk about the possibility of Sara learning about becoming an electrologist. This began the process of learning, and becoming a certified and licensed electrologist for Sara. She went to work fulltime with Lynne and had the opportunity to learn the business. A few years later, enters her friend Steve Severance, who by the way, was one of the people she worked on while getting her hours of training in to become an electrologist. They begin talking about business ideas and Steve was asking Sara about the electrologist business, the hours, the kind of money that may be made, and what it would take to start up a business like that. Not long after Hair Today Gone Tomorrow (HTGT) is “birthed” as Sara likes to say with Steve as the investor and Sara as the trainer and coach. Steve worked with Sara to hire their first employee and worked to get them trained and certified to begin the first location of HTGT in Flower Mound. In just over a year HTGT is hiring another employee to become an electrologist and opens a second location in Dallas near Lemon and Oak Lawn. Over the following three years the business grows and discussions revolve around expanding the two locations and/or opening a third location. In October of 2017 Lynne reaches out to Steve and Sara to discuss the potential of purchasing Great Skin by Lynne as she was looking to retire to East Texas and enjoy a more relaxed style of life. In December the three agree to merge Great Skin by Lynne into the HTGT family and officially become part of this growing opportunity. HTGT now has 5 employees along with Sara supporting their great customers and continue to look at other opportunities in the area to help people with their permanent hair removal needs.

Has it been a smooth road?
There are always struggles in the business. Ours are not all unique and certainly ones that we were able to deal with. The biggest challenge in the electrolysis business is that many people have no clue what that is and who does it. Unlike some other hair removal solutions, this service is provided by licensed professionals and is not a retail type service where someone can simply walk in off the street and have their hair removed. With that said the second challenge is to find those people to train and certify to work at our locations. To become licensed, the American Electrology Association, AEA, requires a minimum of 400 hours of hands on training along with the practical and theoretical education that is needed. So as you might imagine, there is not an ongoing stream of licensed electrologists on the street looking for a job opening. The great thing is, our clients love the service, they love the people they work with, and with our growth, more and more people are finding out about us and our services.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Hair Today Gone Tomorrow Electrolysis – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Electrolysis is permanent hair removal that has been around since 1875. It was invented by an ophthalmologist named Dr. Charles E. Michael. He was trying to find a way to cure his patients who suffered from inverted eyelashes. He figured out that the only way to make hair stop growing permanently was to treat it at its source.

Regardless of the cause – heredity, metabolic, or hormonal conditions – electrolysis will permanently remove unwanted hair to reveal a glowing, confident you.

Permanent hair removal using electrolysis has come a long way since its beginnings in 1875. Today’s computer technology enables the electrologist to work with more speed and comfort. Epilators are much quicker, utilizing current timings of thousandths of a second over the longer current applications of the past, plus, intensity settings can now be modulated to varying proportions. The instruments and equipment used in a contemporary electrologist’s office are just part of the changes that have occurred in the electrolysis industry.

We made a decision when opening up Hair Today Gone Tomorrow to utilize the latest equipment and technology available today. Apilus electrolysis devices have revolutionized permanent hair removal treatments. The creators of Apilus have designed a state-of-the-art computerized electrolysis machine that limits the level of destruction within the hair follicle, targeting only germ cells. This consequently protects the skin and prevents new hair growth.

The Apilus Platinum Pure works twice as fast as any other epilator, which removes the cells responsible for hair growth resulting in incomparable effectiveness and comfort. This state-of-the-art technology is so swift and concentrated that treatments are much more comfortable as compared to conventional thermolysis and electrolysis.

Along with top of the line machinery, we also use disposable, single use, sterile, insulated probes. Each probe is properly disposed of after each treatment session. We also perform medical sterilization on all instruments with the use of an Autoclave that is calibrated to the standards of OSHA.
