Shamira, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am the owner of Mira’s Goddess located in Red Oak, TX . I’ve been doing hair since the age of 16. Over the years, I worked in corporate as a mortgage supervisor. As the years past, I begin to become more intrigue in Beauty and fashion. I decided to leave corporate in 2014 and further my education in the beauty industry at Ogle Cosmetology school located in Arlington, TX. As I begin to dive more in education, my mindset changed from just wanting to do extensions but to understand more about not only hair (color, short styles, makeup) but also gain education on taking care of both my client’s skin and hair needs. Attending classes and networking with some of the most amazing stylists is always rewarding. I’ve been a licensed stylist since 2015. I was a hairstylist for both New York Fashion Week in Feb 2017 and also Paris, France fashion week Oct 2017. Mira’s Goddess has participated in several different hair battles (Bronner Brothers) and also a hairstylist for the BET Awards, Xscape Tour and Snoop Dog tour.
Has it been a smooth road?
No matter how great life can get, there will always be obstacles. You can decide to dwell on the situation or get up take it as a loss and figure things out. I remember trying to find the right hair vendor. Buying thousands of dollars worth of hair that wasn’t even worth a penny cannot only break you down financially but mentally.
