Today we’d like to introduce you to Silk Delorian.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Silk. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My story started in Forest, Mississippi. After graduating from college, I started my career as a Speech-Language Pathologist. After working for three years, I stepped out on faith and moved to Dallas, TX. I love doing Speech Therapy but I’ve always had a passion for fashion. After Seeing my sisters start their own companies and having great role models to look up to, I went ahead and started my shoe company Silky Soles Collection. Silky Sole was an immediate hit and it brought me so much joy to be able to share designs that I loved and others loved as well.
After maintaining and finding the proper balance between having a career and a company on the side, I began working on another dream I had hidden. Throughout college, I did hair and makeup to have extra money and it was another hobby that grew into a passion. I used this passion to fuel my natural hair care company, Silk Supreme Luxury Hair Care. I wanted to launch this company and have products that aid in growing and maintaining healthy natural hair for all hair types.
After working for over a year on a solid formula, I released my first product- Silk Supreme Hair Growth Serum. Our growth serum sold out every week for five weeks straight. I was truly amazed at the amount of support I received. Since then, Silk Supreme has released an Edge Tamer and Beard Oil for men. Our Growth and Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner are set to debut mid-February as well as our product line for Naturally Curly hair. I’ve been so blessed to be able to start and maintain both companies as well as a Travel Agency with also having a full-time career. Everything that I have and everything that I am is all because of God. I was blessed with a great family and amazing friends that have all supported and helped me as well.
Has it been a smooth road?
I can’t say that any of what I’ve done has been smooth or easy but I can definitely say, all of it has been worth it. I struggled with balance and actually, I still struggle with it. Running two companies while having a full time career is hard. But I feel like I was built for this. I know that whatever I do will succeed or I’ll keep trying until it does. Failure has never been an option. Staying on a schedule and being consistent is another challenge but I work on both daily.

For Silky Soles Collection, I specialize in “Keeping your soles FLY!” I try to bring the latest and most fashionable shoes for my customers. Silk Supreme Hair Care is an elite natural hair company that focuses on utilizing the best vitamins and natural/organic oils and products to aid in the growth and maintenance of healthy hair for all hair types.
I’m most proud of the support that I’ve received from both of my companies. My customers are simply amazing. They have been my biggest cheerleaders and I thoroughly enjoy engaging with each and every person that I come across during this journey.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Coming from a small town in Mississippi, moving to Dallas was a huge adjustment. I don’t have a lot of families here so I can say I primarily moved here by myself. My older cousin helped me with this adjustment and taught me the necessities of living in a big city. I’m so grateful for her. I love that Dallas is still so warm and welcoming—the southern hospitality was the same as in MS so I immediately felt at home. The people and friendships that I’ve acquired have been one of the best things about living here. My friends have truly turned into family. The only thing I can say that I disliked is the traffic. I’m always getting stuck in the crazy Dallas Traffic.
