Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Barnes.
Stephanie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have worked in the benefits industry for several years as an employee and took every opportunity to learn and grow in a field of helping others. The point finally came in my life where I knew it was time to use my education and experience and do more for others using my own vision and passion. I embarked on a new journey of creating a business that lives and thrives on what our clients need and providing an experience for them that they will cherish. For our clients, Verity will be a part of the family.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
No! In the benefits industry (insurance and financial planning) there are many licensing and contracting requirements that have to be met in each state that you conduct business in. During start-up of the company, I had unexpected trials such as delays getting the Secretary of State approval, issues with getting the correct paperwork to the Department of Insurance to license the company, and all the way down to errors on marketing material that I had created. But every issue made me appreciate the value and reward of doing this on my own.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Verity Benefits Group story. Tell us more about the business.
My business offers benefits to individuals, families and employers. These benefits include health insurance, life insurance, and a partner in financial planning. We have worked heavily in the Medicare field helping those entering a new phase of life with their new insurance options. Being independent gives me the flexibility of working with many carriers so I can select the best fit for the client. I feel I’m best known for the personal connection I make with each of my clients. My clients are repeat clients each year, clients that give referrals and clients that are very loyal to me and the services I believe they deserve. I truly care about each individual person that becomes a part of the Verity family and I will always work to provide the best services for them.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I’m not sure if things happen because of luck or if they happen because of decisions you make or decisions of others that you can’t control. I believe we each make our own way and the real test of your character comes from how you handle things you are faced with and that in turn determines how things affect your life and business.
