Meet Stephanie Ventura of Untamed Arte

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Ventura.

Stephanie, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Where I am today and working as a full time artist was a complete surprise to me. Of course, it was always the dream but only one can dream about being surrounded by amazing art supplies and creating all day. The notion growing up was go to school, get a degree and get a well-paying job. I was on that path and I was content but art has always been my passion. My journey as an artist started by attending my first art show. My first art show was the same week that I graduated. I was so excited to be done with school. I felt like I spent 30 hrs+ on campus getting all of my schoolwork done. School was important to me so, I didn’t do too much out side of class that could have possibly interfered with my grades. So, as soon as I walked that stage… it was time to let my hair down! Bye-bye books, bye-bye teachers, bye-bye annoying morning Dallas traffic (if only I could say bye to that forever) and hello F-R-E-E-D-O-M. To my surprise that same night, I sold my first painting. After that, I started getting requests to do custom pieces and soon started expanding myself as an artist. I know I made that sound super simple, there has definitely been some bumps along the road and I’m still no where close to where I want to be but, I’m just starting and I’m so excited to see where this journey takes me.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is always that pressure of doing something new and innovative in order to stand out from the rest of the crowd. There are so many talented artists out there, especially in Dallas so trying to come up with a piece that is a “hit” sometimes can be challenging but it is also motivating, it pushes me to go beyond my limits. For me, being an artist isn’t just painting, I’m also running my own business. I truly feel like 90% of my time goes into the business aspect and 10% goes into creating. So, there are some challenges that go hand in hand of being a new business owner but it’s all a learning process and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Untamed Arte story. Tell us more about the business.
I would like to say that I’m known for being random. It’s hard for me to describe my art or what I specialize in because it’s always changing. I’m always experimenting with different paint, mediums, canvases and technique. I do get bored easily so I try to challenge myself to create differently. I think that the simplest subject can be turned into a masterpiece; it all has to do with how you put it together. Which leads to why I chose to name my company Untamed Arte. I use the name that has an umbrella for all the non-traditional tactics I use to create. I’m not necessarily wild or my art but I love to create with whatever I can get my hands on. Being so random with my work is what makes me proud the most as a company because I’m not confining myself to one technique.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I believe that my curiosity and my willingness to try something new is the most important quality to my success.
