Meet Tara Williams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Williams.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always been interested in photography. When asked as a child what I wanted to be when I grew up I always answered mama and a teacher or photographer. I ended up graduating college with a degree in elementary education. I taught kindergarten for three years before my husband and I started our family and I decided to resign to stay home. While I love being a mom- my boys were now 7 & 4, and I found myself lost. I didn’t know who I was outside of mother, wife, and homemaker. I had a great family, we did fun things together, we had great friends but who was I? What sparked joy in my life? What from my past was I passionate about? I have always loved being creative and sharing my gifts to bring joy to others, so I circled back around to photography! My husband had gifted me a nice digital camera so I decided it was time to really learn how to use it! I dove right in and started soaking up everything I could, watching training videos on YouTube, looking up camera and photo tips on Pinterest, enrolling in courses offered by some of the best in the business, and attended some amazing workshops that really inspired my creativity and lit a fire in me that I had lost! I learned that I have a real aptitude and passion for capturing my clients special moments in the most beautiful, real way! I absolutely loved this particular moment- I was photographing a family with a really rambunctious little boy. The mother was getting really frustrated because her little boy was “playing” with me instead of standing still and saying cheese. I then showed her the back of my camera and tears immediately started streaming down her face. I had captured her little guy! I captured him in his true most natural state- his silly playful self with a huge smile was right there on my camera and she was over joyed! She apologized for crying and said “oh my goodness- that’s him! You captured him in a way no one else has done before. Thank you so much!” This is why I do what I do- I love that I can incorporate my unique experiences as a teacher, mother, bride and wife and use what I know to bring out the very best in my clients! I walk away from my sessions renewed, filled with joy and with a big smile on my face. It is very rare I walk away from a session without a few hugs because I genuinely love my clients and we have a great time together! I now have a new purpose- and I am so fulfilled knowing that I am bringing so much joy to others!

Please tell us about your art.
I am a light and airy photographer who still loves to see colors in my photos! My style is joyful, playful, fun, and real!

Do you have any advice for other artists? Any lessons you wished you learned earlier?
It is so easy to scroll through Instagram and compare your every day to the rest of the worlds highlight reel. I surround myself with people that I am inspired by and I am guilty of getting lost in the “I’m not good enough” mindset while looking at their beautiful picture perfect work. I just have to quickly remind myself that these photographers are my #goals- and it took them a lot of time, hard work and practice and time to get there!

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
My website launches at the end of May www.tarawilliams.photography I am also on Facebook and Instagram.

Support by booking a session with me! I am located in San Antonio- but I travel to the area frequently to visit my nephews!
