So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I can’t say I knew from a young age, I wanted to be a Cosmetologist. It was shortly after high school when I went to cosmetology school. I attended The TONI&GUY Hairdressing Academy from 2010-2011. I fell In LOVE with the industry. Fast forward 7 years. From working in small salons in Frisco to being a stylist at drybar, I felt like I had lost my love for hair. I was working at a small salon in Melissa, TX and was ready to throw in the towel. But God knew this was supposed to be my path. He provided an opportunity for me to step out into my own space and be my own boss. GAME CHANGER. The love was back in a big way… that passion that I had in school was back and even bigger than before. I get to go to work every day and see people I love. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Figuring out how to be self-disciplined in booking appts, and keeping up with certain documents, and the tax-related information is a learning process. But honestly, it’s been wonderful.
Meraki Studio – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I chose the name Meraki Studio because it stands for exactly how I feel about my career. Meraki is a Greek word that means: to do something with creativity and love. To leave a piece of yourself in your work. And isn’t that just perfect? It’s exactly how I feel about my career and my salon. My specialty is blonde, color correction, and balayage. I love a good natural balayage.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The day my salon opened. Hands down!
