Today we’d like to introduce you to Xavier Chau.
Xavier, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today? I am a college dropout. I went to college for two years and quickly realized that college was not for me. I used to build multi-million dollar fishing yachts for two and a half years for Viking Yacht in New Jersey. I was a lead mechanic at the age of 19. Over the weekend, I would pick up over time to learn how to do interior design with some of the best designers throughout the country. During that time, I fell in love with designing kitchens and baths, and that’s where my journey began.
Closer to the end of 2012, I moved down to Dallas, Texas to advance my career doing high end kitchen and bath designing. Throughout that time, I also met a lot of investors and developers. Fast forward to about a year later, I started to joint venture with different investors for different houses, also running my own kitchen/bath business and buy and resell houses at the same time. I have been doing that since until now. In 2020, I would start to get more involved in new build development.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. If I tell you everything went very smoothly, I would be lying to you. Keep in mind. I am in the real estate and luxury remodeling business. There are always challenges and competition and the consistency is key. I am building a business with honesty, integrity and commitment by treating every home as if it was my own
Please tell us about your business.
I am a professional kitchen and bath designer, also a real estate investor. I do a lot of high end kitchens and baths design. I am known for “The cabinet guy.” All the cabinets we made are solid maple wood with standard soft closes, not birch wood nor MDF (partical) board. I can literally have a kitchen/vanity cabinets stained, glazed, sealed and heat treated and installed within as little as three days. All doors and drawers are CNC machine cut and drilled, so there’s no room for human error.
What sets me apart from others would be my timeline, quality and communication. A word of advice, just because it’s cheaper, it doesn’t mean better. Most of the time you will have to pay double to have it fixed.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would definitely find the right mentor to guide me through my business journal instead of making all the unnecessary mistakes.
