Rising Stars: Meet Lorenzo Carranza

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorenzo Carranza.

Hi Lorenzo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been fascinated with photography but just never knew how to start. I also believed it was too late in life to start photography. I never took classes or was part of any photography classes. When me and my wife were looking fir a wedding photographer we had a meeting with Rick Davilla. He gave us his story, how he left his job as a manager to become a photographer. After the meeting, I thought to myself it’s never to late to learn. So i embarked on a journey to learn photography.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For the most part, it has been a road with lots of ups and downs. I engulfed myself in every photography class. I began studying other photographers. Looking closely at the angles, the poses, the settings they used. A couple times, I was put down by other photographers. I used that too get better and improve. A year into it, I had a meeting again with Rick. He expressed how I was doing a great job and gave me advice to her better. Since then, I believe I have improved.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love wedding and quince photography. I am known for wife angle shots that are dark and Moody. I am most proud off learning how to use lighting that is best for any photo. What sets me apart is that I am willing to make any wedding or quince fun and unique experience.

What were you like growing up?
I grew up in a small town. Growing up in my small community I loved sports and movies. For me, I was the typical teenager. I liked to have fun with friends. Growing up, I knew I didn’t want to be stuck in a job. I wanted to do a job that I would love.
